There are no two people on the face of this earth with exactly the same chemistry make-up. Just like no two people on this earth with exactly the same DNA. By sequencing the DNA from various people, scientists have found 15 million single nucleotide polymorphisms, 1 million short insertions and deletions, and 20,000 structural variants (The 1000 Genomes Project Consortium). Assuming each of these sites of variation has only two alleles and that none are synthetically lethal, this puts an estimate of the possible combinations from randomly assorting these variants at 2^(1.6×10^6) or 10^480000.

Hi, my name is Debbie Rich.

I’m a Healthy Lifestyle coach with Health IS a Lifestyle. I help frazzled mothers implement healthier dietary and lifestyle habits into their families in an easy to implement step by step fashion. My goal is for you to find joy in taking care of your family & have more vim and vigor to enjoy doing the things you love.

Isn’t it frustrating when you try to feed your troops something healthier and all they do is rebel? Then you have to figure out what’s for dinner and all you can think about is that they are going to give you a hard time again, so you settle for something you know they’ll like-Hamburger Helper, Mac & Cheese, Pizza, Spaghetti. While inside you’re thinking, “I know this isn’t good for them, I could have done better, why can’t healthy food just taste good, why can’t they just let me do what I need to do and leave me alone, and on and on and on.” So, you start reading diet & health books trying to get some ideas, and the more you read, the more confused you get. By the end of the day you’re pooped out, unappreciated and too tired & frustrated to enjoy the evening with your main man!

I know what it’s like!

I’ve been there done that. I remember when I first tried to go healthy and serve a salad before the meals, all I heard was complaints. “Why do we have to eat this, its rabbit food?” & ugh, this stuff is green, I can’t eat this crap. I want good stuff!” So frustrating!! I knew what I needed to do, but I really wasn’t interested in the battle I knew would follow, so I succumbed to fixing the food they were used to. I started reading all kinds of health books & I’d try a little of this and a little of that. The more I read though, the more confused I got. Every author had something different to say about everything. It didn’t seem like there was any agreement out there as to what is right and what is wrong. By the end of the day I was so frustrated and worn out from trying to figure out the best approach to taking good care of my family that I had no energy left for my husband. Then he’d get upset at me for being tired. And the cycle just continued day after day!

In my attempt to find solutions, all I found was confusion. I knew healthy food didn’t come in a package for the most part, my kids & husband didn’t like the way anything healthy tasted, and I didn’t know how to cook it up and make it look and taste scrumptious. I felt like I was in a whirlwind-wanting them to be healthy and happy just spun my head.

One day I found a book

“Choose, Life or Death” by Carey Reams with Cliff Dudley, it was phenomenal. 100% success rate with Leukemia, 85% success rate with MS. Wow! Emotions are easy to even out-just take your calcium (the right one that is). This sounded too good to be true so I searched the internet and found it is true and there are still people living this way. Testing your urine & saliva, comparing the results to some cheat sheets and creating a custom diet plan tailored to suit your body’s needs. Amazing! As I was getting all of this new information implemented I found another answer, it was the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I put together what I knew from Carey Reams and what I was taught at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition for my family and now I know how to make a salad an integral part of lunch and dinner – and it tastes good too! I understand each of the members of my family has different dietary needs and I can fulfill them without having to be a short-order cook. Most importantly, I learned how my health and the health of my family is just as impacted by emotions and atmosphere as it is by the food we eat. I was astonished by the results of just a few simple changes. Adding fun to mealtime made the biggest difference. When the meal is fun, then food is no longer the central theme and healthy food looks and tastes better. Getting the family involved in food prep and meal planning saved me time and energy. No longer confused and aggravated by all the different dietary theories allowed me to relax and enjoy the process. I found I had more time in the day, more energy to do my daily tasks, and I even had quite a bit left over for after-hours activities!

So I’ve been through what you’re going through. It’s not easy being a mom, especially not in today’s hurry up world. As your Healthy Lifestyle Coach, I will help you discover small changes that you can implement to help lead your family to a healthier, happier life. I have done the learning and I am ready to teach you how to avoid the frustrations of figuring it all out. From easy to prepare tasty recipes to easy ways to pamper yourself, I will guide you in every step it takes for you and your family to achieve a life you can be proud of.

I grew up (as I’m sure you did too) believing that health was something you were born with or not. Diseases were hereditary – if it was in your family history you were going to battle it as well. And if you have a problem, go to the family Dr. and he’ll know what to do about it. Since then I have learned that all of these things are not so. Health is something we are all born with, but it has to be improved upon or maintained as we grow up. Disease is not hereditary but the habits that set the stage for a particular disease are taught from generation to generation – therefore the next generation gets the same diseases. And the family Dr., well, he only knows how to push drugs. Dr.’s are only given a 1 hour training in nutrition in med school. That’s not enough to tell anyone anything. Not only that, but it’s against AMA regulations for the Dr. to give any health advice. He’ll lose his license. While attending the Institute for Integrative Nutrition I went through 80 hours of nutrition and there’s still a lot left to uncover even after all that time. Go to the Dr. in an emergency, but leave the health side of things to a Health Coach or Nutritionist.
